Supernatural is the oldest song on “Line ‘Em Up”. I wrote it back in high school using the chords from another song I had written, but did not like. By the end of the night Supernatural had the long and short chorus lines and the first verse. I put it down for a night and no matter how hard I tried the second verse didn’t come for a year and a half. In that time I was so proud of what Supernatural, even without a verse two, I played it for others.
Supernatural was the song that took me passed my crippling, knee buckling stage fright. As part of the outcast crowd in high-school my friends and I started a band and had a teacher cool enough to let us put on shows on Friday’s at lunch. This is where Supernatural was debuted. For weeks my friends, the cool kids and even teachers came to the Friday lunch shows and would sing along to Supernatural, and it didn’t have a second verse yet. I will never forget being told “everyone was singing it in seventh hour” by a friend. That was the moment my life changed from wanting music as a hobby for me, to wanting to write and see people get excited, change someone’s day or even inspire others to write.
